—We should build a BRICS committed to peace, and we must all act as defenders of common security. We humans are an indivisible community of security. Only by embracing the vision of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security can we pave the way for universal security. The Ukraine crisis still persists. China and Brazil, in collaboration with other countries from the Global South, initiated a group of Friends for Peace to address the crisis. The aim is to gather more voices advocating peace. We must uphold the three key principles: no expansion of the battlefields, no escalation of hostilities, and no fanning flames, and strive for swift deescalation of the situation. While the humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, the flames of war have once again been rekindled in Lebanon, and conflicts are escalating among the parties. We must promote an immediate ceasefire and an end to the killing. We must make unremitting efforts toward a comprehensive, just and lasting resolution of the Palestinian question.

Ukrinform News Agency: After the situation in Venezuela, China and its Foreign Ministry condemned the U.S. actions and called to respect the sovereignty of all countries. Chinese leader stated that all countries should respect the development paths chosen by the peoples of other nations. At the same time, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has lasted for almost four years. Civilian Ukrainians were killed and the territory of Ukraine was occupied. So, my question is: from China’s perspective, what is the difference between the situation in Venezuela and Ukraine, and whether China’s calls to respect the sovereignty also apply to the Ukrainian state?

乌克兰危机延宕已接近4年。中方以习近平主席提出的“四个应该”为基本遵循，坚持不懈为和平创造条件，汇聚共识。作为乌克兰危机“和平之友”的倡导者之一，我们真诚欢迎一切有利于和平解决危机的努力，同其他各方一道为之积极奔走呼吁。现在，谈判的窗口已经打开，和平的曙光就在前面。尽管前进道路仍然崎岖坎坷，但中方愿继续发挥建设性作用，期待达成全面、持久、有约束力的和平协议，消除矛盾冲突的根源，实现欧洲长治久安。

On the nearly four-year-old Ukraine crisis, China, guided by the four points about what should be done put forward by President Xi Jinping, worked relentlessly to create conditions and foster consensus for peace. As one of the initiators of the Group of Friends for Peace, China sincerely welcomed all efforts conducive to the peaceful settlement of the crisis, and worked actively alongside others to this end. Right now, the window for negotiation is open, and the dawn of peace is within sight. While the road ahead will still be bumpy, China will continue to play a constructive role and hopes that a comprehensive, durable and binding peace agreement could be reached to eliminate the root causes of the conflict and bring about lasting peace and stability in Europe.

本轮加沙冲突延宕超过两年，造成前所未有的人道主义危机，中方对此深表关切。冲突爆发以来，中方通过联合国、埃及、约旦等渠道，向加沙地带提供多批人道主义物资援助，受到巴勒斯坦政府和人民的欢迎和赞赏。此次习近平主席宣布新一批价值1亿美元的对巴勒斯坦援助计划，将用于支持缓解加沙人道主义危机和战后重建，相信将有助于改善加沙人道局势，减轻巴勒斯坦人民苦难。

It has been over two years since the latest conflict in Gaza broke out, which caused unprecedented humanitarian crisis. China is deeply concerned over that. Since the outbreak of the conflict, China has provided multiple batches of humanitarian supplies to the Gaza strip through the UN, Egypt, Jordan and other channels, which was welcomed and appreciated by the Palestinian government and people. We believe the latest assistance worth US$100 million announced by President Xi Jinping and earmarked for the easing of the humanitarian crisis and post-conflict reconstruction will help improve Gaza’s humanitarian situation and reduce the suffering of the Palestinian people.
