The Central Committee is keenly aware that opening the door brings progress, while closing it leaves one behind. For China’s development to gain the upper hand, seize the initiative, and have a good future, it is essential that we follow the tide of economic globalization, leverage the strengths of China’s massive market, and pursue a more proactive opening up strategy. Adhering to the principle of achieving shared growth through consultation and collaboration, China has promoted high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). We have advanced a large number of cooperation projects with significant implications for fueling economic development and improving people’s lives in countries along the BRI routes, and worked to build the BRI into an initiative of peace, prosperity, openness, green development, and innovation that brings different civilizations closer, and a widely welcomed public good and platform for international cooperation in today’s world.

开放合作是历史潮流，互利共赢是人心所向。发展是世界各国的普遍权利，而不是少数国家的专利。各国应当秉持共商共建共享原则，坚持真正的多边主义，共同反对各种形式的单边主义、保护主义，维护以联合国为核心的国际体系，维护以世界贸易组织为核心的多边贸易体制。

Open cooperation represents the trend of history and mutual benefit is what the people want. Development is a universal right of all countries, not an exclusive privilege of a few. Countries need to uphold the principles of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefit, remain committed to true multilateralism, jointly oppose unilateralism and protectionism of all forms, safeguard the international order with the UN at its core, and uphold the multilateral trading system with the WTO at its center.

He noted that, the successful convening of the UN Summit of the Future reflects the common aspiration of the international community for supporting and promoting multilateralism, strengthening the role of the UN and improving global governance. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and the founding of the United Nations. The international community hopes to see all countries work in solidarity and coordination to uphold what is right, steer the direction of our era, defend fairness and justice, safeguard world peace and stability, and promote global development and prosperity. As a founding member of the United Nations and a permanent member of the Security Council, China will continue to work with all sides to practice true multilateralism, safeguard the central role of the UN, and promote global governance that is based on extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefit.
