Third, efforts to foster closer economic bonds. The SCO’s continuous expansion of membership in recent years has created more notable economic complementarity among member states. By deepening our economic ties, resisting external attempts of pulling us apart, and tapping into and pooling our respective strengths in resources, market and industries, we will be able to foster even stronger synergy for development.

总台中文国际频道记者：今年，金砖国家举行扩员后首次峰会，秘鲁、巴西等国相继举办亚太经合组织领导人非正式会议、二十国集团领导人峰会等重要国际多边会议。有评论认为，2024年是全球南方年。发言人如何看待全球南方崛起势头和对世界的影响？

CCTV: This year, BRICS held the first summit after its expansion, and Peru, Brazil and other countries successively hosted the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, the G20 Summit and other important international multilateral meetings. There has been comment that 2024 is a year of the Global South. How do you see the rising momentum of the Global South and its impact on the world?

毛宁： 今年10月，习近平主席出席金砖喀山峰会，同其他金砖国家领导人就设置伙伴国达成重要共识。这是继去年实现历史性扩员后，金砖发展进程的又一个重要进展。峰会之后，中方积极配合主席国俄罗斯，会同金砖成员国推进伙伴国工作，最终确定印度尼西亚、马来西亚、泰国、白俄罗斯、玻利维亚、古巴、哈萨克斯坦、乌兹别克斯坦、乌干达成为金砖伙伴国。

Mao Ning: Last October, President Xi Jinping attended the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan and reached important consensus with the leaders of other BRICS countries on establishing a partner country mechanism, which is another milestone in the process of BRICS development after the historic membership expansion last year. After the summit, China has actively worked with Russia, the BRICS chair country, and implemented the mechanism with other BRICS countries. A list of BRICS partner countries was finally agreed on, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Uganda.
