党把握解决台湾问题大局，确立“和平统一、一国两制”基本方针，推动两岸双方达成体现一个中国原则的“九二共识”，推进两岸协商谈判，实现全面直接双向“三通”，开启两岸政党交流。制定反分裂国家法，坚决遏制“台独”势力、促进祖国统一，有力挫败各种制造“两个中国”、“一中一台”、“台湾独立”的图谋。

Keeping in mind the big picture with regard to resolving the Taiwan question, the Party set forth the basic principles of peaceful reunification and One Country, Two Systems and facilitated agreement across the Taiwan Strait on the 1992 Consensus, which embodies the one-China principle. It advanced cross-Strait consultations and negotiations, established comprehensive and direct two-way mail, transport, and trade links across the Strait, and launched dialogues between political parties of the two sides. The Party pushed for the enactment of the Anti-Secession Law, resolutely deterred separatist forces seeking “Taiwan independence,” promoted national reunification, and thwarted attempts to create “two Chinas,” “one China, one Taiwan,” or “Taiwan independence.”

日本广播协会记者：15日，美国战略与国际问题研究中心发布一份关于中国《反分裂国家法》的报告，指出明年是该法颁布20周年，有可能作出修订，为武力统一台湾提供合法性。发言人对此有何评论？

NHK: A report released by the US Center for Strategic and International Studies on October 15 said that next year Beijing could use the 20th anniversary of its Anti-Secession Law to revise the law and justify Taiwan’s unification through military means. Do you have any comment on that?

对于两岸来说，我们都有一个家，名字叫中国。作为骨肉同胞，我们将继续以最大诚意、尽最大努力实现祖国和平统一。同时，保留采取一切必要措施的选项。中国《反分裂国家法》对此规定得很明确。如果出现了违反该法的情况，我们必须依宪依法行事。任何人都不要低估中国政府和中国人民捍卫国家主权和领土完整的坚强决心、坚定意志和强大能力。

The two sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to one common family, which is called China. As brothers and sisters, we will continue to work with the greatest sincerity and utmost efforts to pursue peaceful reunification. Meanwhile, we reserve the option of taking all necessary measures. In fact, China’s Anti-Secession Law has explicitly made this point. In case this Law is violated, we must act in accordance with the Constitution and the Law. No one should ever underestimate the firm resolve, strong will or great capability of the Chinese government and people to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

王毅强调，当务之急是妥善管控台湾问题，否则将对中美关系产生颠覆性影响。中国有句老话：宁失千军，不丢寸土。这就是中国人的意志和决心。如果触犯《反分裂国家法》，中方必将依法采取坚决行动，捍卫国家的主权和领土完整。要维护台海和平稳定，美方就应认认真真回归一个中国本义，明明白白反对和制止“台独”。

Wang Yi stressed that the pressing task is to properly manage the Taiwan question; otherwise, it would have a disruptive impact on China-US relations. A Chinese saying goes to the effect that “To defend even an inch of land, a country will not hesitate to sacrifice thousands of troops.” The saying reflects the will and resolve of the Chinese people. If the Anti-Secession Law is violated, China will surely take firm action in accordance with the law to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Wang Yi stressed that to maintain peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, the US must return to the true meaning of the one-China principle, and unequivocally oppose and curb “Taiwan independence” activities.
