It is important to respect the different histories, cultures and development stages of countries, respect each country’s core interests and major concerns, and respect the development path, system and model independently chosen by people of different countries. At the same time, it is important to oppose the imposition of one’s own will upon others, oppose camp-based confrontation and various “small circles,” and oppose the act of forcing others to pick sides. China will stay on the right path of peaceful development, actively expand global partnerships based on equality, openness and cooperation, and commit to expanding shared interests with all countries. China will promote coordination and sound interactions among major countries, work for healthy, stable and sustainable development of relations with the U.S., strengthen its comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for the new era with Russia, and enhance high-level exchanges and strategic communication with Europe, thus fostering major-country dynamics featuring peaceful coexistence, overall stability and balanced development. Mao Ning: Zero-tariff for 53 African countries having diplomatic ties with China is a new window of opportunity for African exports. The policy is a concrete example of China committing to principles put forward by President Xi Jinping—sincerity, real results, amity and good faith and pursuing shared interests with Africa. We are happy to see more African quality and specialty products in the Chinese market, and will implement the zero-tariff policy well and upgrade green lanes for African imports to allow greater access and better benefit both peoples.

Lin Jian: China noted the earnest expectation and positive feedback from Africa regarding the zero-tariff treatment. This is an important measure of China taking the initiative to expand unilateral opening up. It demonstrates China’s willingness to shoulder more international obligations and steadily expand high-standard opening up. It is a vivid example of how China upholds the principle of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith and the principle of pursuing the greater good and shared interests with Africa, and how China and Africa jointly build an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era. It can well be said that the policy is epoch-making in the history of China-Africa relations and international relations.
