2024年是和平共处五项原则发表70周年。6月28日，习近平总书记出席和平共处五项原则发表70周年纪念大会并发表重要讲话。这是在世界百年变局加速演进、国际格局深刻调整背景下，以习近平同志为核心的党中央统筹国内国际两个大局，为促进国际社会团结合作、推动人类和平与发展事业举行的一次重大主场外交活动。

The year 2024 marks the 70th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. On June 28, General Secretary Xi Jinping attended and delivered an important address at the conference marking the occasion. This is a major home-court diplomatic event held by the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, against the backdrop of accelerated global transformation not seen in a century and profound adjustment of the international landscape and with both domestic and international imperatives in mind, to promote international solidarity and cooperation and humanity’s cause of peace and development.

习近平总书记的重要讲话立意高远，思想深邃，内涵丰富，贯通历史，着眼未来，全面阐释了和平共处五项原则的精神内涵和时代价值，面对世界百年变局，指出了构建人类命运共同体的前进方向，发出了“全球南方”同世界各国人民共创美好未来的时代强音。这一重要讲话是中国坚持走和平发展道路的再宣示，是构建人类命运共同体理念的再升华，是中国与世界共谋发展繁荣的再推进，充分彰显了习近平总书记作为大党大国领袖的深厚世界情怀和强烈历史担当，凝聚了习近平外交思想的最新发展成果，为我们汲取和平共处五项原则的历史智慧、汇集解决当今世界难题挑战的共识提供了战略引领和科学指南。

General Secretary Xi Jinping’s visionary address is profound in thought and rich in connotation. Informed by history and oriented toward the future, it fully expounds on the essence and relevance of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. Noting the momentous transformation of the world, it points the direction of building a community with a shared future for mankind, and sends a powerful message of the Global South working together with people across all countries working together for a better future. This important address reaffirms China’s commitment to the path of peaceful development, elevates the Vision of Building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind to a new height, and inspires China and the world to redouble efforts in their joint pursuit of development and prosperity. The address fully demonstrates General Secretary Xi Jinping’s deep commitment to the world and strong sense of responsibility for history as the leader of a major party and a major country. It represents the latest development of Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, and provides strategic and scientific guidance for us to draw historic wisdom from the Five Principles, and build consensus on tackling the problems and challenges facing the world today.

今天是首个“文明对话国际日”。中方同联合国等国际组织以及多国一道，在纽约、日内瓦等联合国机构所在地以及全球多国开展了丰富多彩的主题活动。联合国官方网站对活动进行了直播。中共中央政治局委员、外交部长王毅发表了题为“促进文明对话，共建美好世界”的视频致辞，指出面对世界百年变局巨大冲击，国际社会要共同做文明平等的捍卫者、文明交流的践行者、文明进步的促进者，共建更加美好的人类文明。联合国秘书长古特雷斯、第79届联大主席菲勒蒙、联合国文明联盟高级代表莫拉蒂诺斯等国际组织负责人分别致辞，高度评价中方提出全球文明倡议的世界意义，呼吁国际社会加强团结，促进文明对话，维护和平发展。

Today is the first International Day for Dialogue Among Civilizations. China, together with international organizations including the UN and many countries, held a variety of theme events in host cities of UN bodies such as New York and Geneva, as well as in many countries around the world. The events were live-streamed on the UN official website. Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi delivered a video address entitled “Promoting Dialogue Among Civilizations to Build a Better World”. He pointed out that in the face of the immense global impact from transformations unseen in a century, the international community should jointly uphold equality among civilizations, promote exchanges among civilizations, and advance the progress of civilizations so as to build an even better future of human civilizations. UN Secretary-General António Guterres, President of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly Philemon Yang, High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) Miguel Ángel Moratinos and other heads of international organizations delivered remarks. They spoke highly of the global significance of the Global Civilization Initiative, called on the international community to strengthen solidarity, promote dialogue among civilizations, and safeguard peace and development.

当前，世界百年变局加速演进，多重风险交织叠加，各国唯有团结协作，才能维护世界和平稳定，促进全球发展繁荣。关税战、贸易战没有赢家，霸凌霸道只会孤立自身。中国同拉美和加勒比国家都是全球南方重要成员，独立自主是我们的光荣传统，发展振兴是我们的天然权利，公平正义是我们的共同追求。面对地缘政治和阵营对抗暗流涌动，单边主义、保护主义逆流滋长，中方愿同拉方携手启动五大工程，共谋发展振兴，共建中拉命运共同体。

The century-defining transformation is accelerating across the globe, with multiple risks compounding one another. Such developments make unity and cooperation among nations indispensable for safeguarding global peace and stability and for promoting global development and prosperity. There are no winners in tariff wars or trade wars. Bullying or hegemonism only leads to self-isolation. China and LAC countries are important members of the Global South. Independence and autonomy are our glorious tradition. Development and revitalization are our inherent right. And fairness and justice are our common pursuit. In the face of seething undercurrents of geopolitical and bloc confrontation and the surging tide of unilateralism and protectionism, China stands ready to join hands with our LAC partners to launch five programs that advance our shared development and revitalization, and contribute to a China-LAC community with a shared future.

今年是《巴黎协定》达成10周年。10年来，全球气候治理虽然历经风雨，但绿色低碳发展终成时代潮流。今年也是联合国成立80周年。当前，世界百年变局加速演进，人类社会走到新的十字路口。尽管个别大国热衷于单边主义、保护主义，对国际规则和国际秩序造成严重冲击，但历史总会在曲折中前进。只要我们坚定信心，加强团结合作，就一定能冲破逆流，推动全球气候治理和世界一切进步事业行稳致远。在此，我愿分享4点看法。

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement. Over the past decade, global climate governance has gone through winds and rains, but green and low-carbon development has eventually become a trend of our times. This year also marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. As unprecedented global changes unfold at a faster pace, humanity has come to a new crossroads. Although some major country’s persistent pursuit of unilateralism and protectionism has seriously impacted international rules and the international order, history will, as always, move forward through twists and turns. As long as we enhance confidence, solidarity and cooperation, we will overcome the headwinds and steadily move forward global climate governance and all progressive endeavors of the world. Let me share four points with you in this regard.
