党中央深刻认识到，面对来自外部的各种围堵、打压、捣乱、颠覆活动，必须发扬不信邪、不怕鬼的精神，同企图颠覆中国共产党领导和我国社会主义制度、企图迟滞甚至阻断中华民族伟大复兴进程的一切势力斗争到底，一味退让只能换来得寸进尺的霸凌，委曲求全只能招致更为屈辱的境况。

The Central Committee is acutely aware that, confronted with various types of external encirclement, suppression, disruption, and subversion, we must not be misguided or intimidated, and we must fight to the end with any forces that would attempt to subvert the leadership of the Communist Party of China and China’s socialist system, or to hinder or obstruct China’s advance toward national rejuvenation. Constant concessions will only invite more bullying and humiliation.

我要重申，中国人民从来不信邪、不怕鬼，从来不吃霸凌霸道那一套，施压、胁迫和威胁不是同中方打交道的正确方式，对中国搞极限施压，那是找错了对象，打错了算盘。美方如果真想解决芬太尼问题，就应该在平等、尊重、互惠的基础上，同中方磋商解决各自关切。美方如果别有所图，执意打关税战、贸易战或者别的什么战，中方将奉陪到底。我们奉劝美方收起霸凌嘴脸，趁早回到对话合作的正确轨道上来。

Let me reiterate that intimidation does not scare us. Bullying does not work on us. Pressuring, coercion or threats are not the right way of dealing with China. Anyone using maximum pressure on China is picking the wrong guy and miscalculating. If the U.S. truly wants to solve the fentanyl issue, then the right thing to do is to consult with China on the basis of equality, mutual respect and mutual benefit to address each other’s concerns. If the U.S. has other agenda in mind and if war is what the U.S. wants, be it a tariff war, a trade war or any other type of war, we’re ready to fight till the end. We urge the U.S. to stop being domineering and return to the right track of dialogue and cooperation at an early date. 

——敢于斗争、敢于胜利是中国共产党和中国人民不可战胜的强大精神力量。江泽民同志强调：“我们党正在领导人民进行建设社会主义现代化的伟大斗争，不可避免地会遇到许多复杂情况，国际国内的严峻形势和不同社会制度、不同思想体系的对立和斗争，经常考验着每个党员。”“要有压倒一切敌人的英雄气概。”“人不能低下高贵的头。”新征程上，我们一定要保持只争朝夕、奋发有为的奋斗姿态和越是艰险越向前的斗争精神，掌握历史主动，增强全党全国各族人民的志气、骨气、底气，不信邪、不怕鬼、不怕压，全力战胜前进道路上各种困难和挑战。

Having the courage to fight and the fortitude to win is what has made our Party and the Chinese people invincible. Comrade Jiang stressed: "Our Party is leading the people in the great struggle to build socialist modernization, we will inevitably encounter many complicated circumstances, and severe situations at home and abroad, and confrontations and struggles between different social systems and ideologies are often a test for every Party member." "We must be heroic enough to overwhelm all enemies" and "one cannot bow his or her noble head." On the new journey, we must race against the time and strive for success, uphold a fighting spirit to rise to difficulties. We must grasp the historical initiative, foster a firmer sense of purpose, fortitude, and self-belief in the whole Party and among the Chinese people of all ethnic groups so that we are not swayed by fallacies, deterred by intimidation and cowed by pressure, and thus dig deep to overcome all difficulties and challenges on the road ahead.

——坚持发扬斗争精神。增强全党全国各族人民的志气、骨气、底气，不信邪、不怕鬼、不怕压，知难而进、迎难而上，统筹发展和安全，全力战胜前进道路上各种困难和挑战，依靠顽强斗争打开事业发展新天地。

—Carrying forward our fighting spirit. We must foster a firmer sense of purpose, fortitude, and self-belief in the whole Party and the Chinese people so that we cannot be swayed by fallacies, deterred by intimidation, or cowed by pressure. We must meet obstacles and difficulties head on, ensure both development and security, and dig deep to surmount the difficulties and challenges on the road ahead. Let us harness our indomitable fighting spirit to open up new horizons for our cause.
