面对世界经济的增长困境，各国如果只考虑自身利益最大化，不顾及他人利益，甚至不惜“开历史倒车”，搞“脱钩断链”、“小院高墙”，只会抬高经济运行成本、割裂地区之间经济联系、激化矛盾和纷争，把世界各国拖入争抢蛋糕而蛋糕越争越小的恶性循环。中国人常说“风物长宜放眼量”，在这种情况下，正确的选择应该是以更高远的视野、更宽广的胸襟来对待发展问题，在共同做大蛋糕中寻求自己的合理利益，既为世界经济注入持久动力，也为自身发展打开一片新天地。

Confronted with the growth predicament of the world economy, maximizing one’s own benefits at the expense of others’ interests, or resorting to regressive actions of decoupling, disrupting supply chains and building small yards with high fences would only push up operational costs, sever the economic links between regions and aggravate tensions and disputes. This would drag the world into a destructive spiral where the fierce competition for a larger slice ends up in a diminishing pie. As we Chinese often say, “Range far your eye over long vistas.” In the current context, the right choice is to approach development issues with a longer view and broader mind, and join hands with others to make the pie bigger while pursuing one’s legitimate interests. This is how we could sustain the growth of the world economy, and open new horizon for our own development.

For quite some time, the DPP authorities and certain countries have been blatantly turning back the wheel of history by deliberately distorting and challenging UNGA Resolution 2758 to challenge the one-China principle. They are essentially trying to challenge not only China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, but also international justice and prevailing consensus as well as the post-war international order. China’s decision of not approving the Taiwan region’s participation in this year’s WHA has wide support and understanding from the international community. The overwhelming majority of countries in the international community have reaffirmed to the Chinese side that they uphold UNGA Resolution 2758, firmly support the one-China principle, and oppose Taiwan’s participation in the WHA. They expressed their support for China’s position through various means, such as writing to the WHO Director-General. It shows that commitment to the one-China principle is where global opinion trends and the arc of history bends, and what the greater national interests entail. The international community’s commitment to the one-China principle is not to be challenged or shaken. No matter what the DPP authorities say or do, it does not change the fact that the two sides of the Strait belong to one and the same China and Taiwan is part of China, nor can it stop the trend towards China’s ultimate and inevitable reunification. “Taiwan independence” leads nowhere and provocations for that are doomed to failure.

历史告诉我们，光明必将驱散黑暗，正义终将战胜邪恶。纽伦堡国际军事法庭、远东国际军事法庭把战犯永远钉在历史的耻辱柱上，这两场大审判的正义性质、历史价值、时代意义不可撼动！一切歪曲二战历史真相、否定二战胜利成果、抹黑中苏历史功绩的图谋都不会得逞！对于任何企图开历史倒车的行径，不仅中俄两国人民不会答应，世界各国人民也不会答应！

History teaches us that light will always overcome darkness, and that justice will ultimately prevail over evil. The International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg and the International Military Tribunal for the Far East condemned the convicted war criminals to perpetual infamy. The justice and integrity of the two landmark trials, their historic significance, and their contemporary relevance stand beyond challenge. Any attempt to distort the historical truth of WWII, deny its victorious outcome, or defame the historic contribution of China and the Soviet Union is doomed to fail. Neither of our two nations will tolerate any act to reverse the course of history—nor will the people of the whole world.
