As President Xi Jinping noted, connectivity is vital to advancing Belt and Road cooperation. We are happy to note that China and its neighbors have recently seen quite a few milestones in their connectivity. During the visit to China by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, China and Vietnam agreed to speed up the effort to sign a cooperation plan on promoting the synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the “Two Corridors, One Economic Belt” initiative. Under the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, China and Pakistan will speed up the implementation of projects including the Gwadar Port and the upgradation of ML-1. At the China-Singapore Bilateral Cooperation Mechanism Meetings, the two sides jointly announced important outcomes in connectivity and agreed to further deepen strategic synergy and advance the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
