Staying committed to mutual respect to consolidate the foundation for friendship and cooperation between countries. It is important to respect the different histories, cultures and development stages of countries, respect each country’s core interests and major concerns, and respect the development path, system and model independently chosen by people of different countries. At the same time, it is important to oppose the imposition of one’s own will upon others, oppose camp-based confrontation and various “small circles,” and oppose the act of forcing others to pick sides. China will stay on the right path of peaceful development, actively expand global partnerships based on equality, openness and cooperation, and commit to expanding shared interests with all countries. China will promote coordination and sound interactions among major countries, work for healthy, stable and sustainable development of relations with the U.S., strengthen its comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for the new era with Russia, and enhance high-level exchanges and strategic communication with Europe, thus fostering major-country dynamics featuring peaceful coexistence, overall stability and balanced development. In its neighborhood, China will adhere to the principle of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness as well as the policy of developing friendship and partnership with its neighbors. It will seek to deepen friendship, trust and common interests with its neighboring countries. With developing countries, China will stay committed to the principle of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith, and take the right approach to friendship and interests. It will strengthen unity and cooperation with fellow developing countries and firmly safeguard common interests.

一是在增进信任中加强团结合作。高度互信是构建亚洲命运共同体的重要前提。我们要弘扬以和平、合作、包容、融合为核心的亚洲价值观，坚持和发扬相互尊重、协商一致、照顾各方舒适度的亚洲方式，尊重彼此的核心利益和重大关切，不断积累共识、增进互信，共创团结进步的亚洲大家庭。坚定捍卫真正的多边主义，维护以联合国为核心的国际体系和以国际法为基础的国际秩序，推动全球治理朝着更加公正合理的方向发展。

First, strengthening solidarity and cooperation through greater mutual trust. A high degree of mutual trust is a must for building an Asian community with a shared future. We should champion the Asian values built around peace, cooperation, inclusiveness and integration, uphold and carry forward the Asian Way of mutual respect, consensus building, and accommodating the comfort levels of all parties, respect each other’s core interests and major concerns, keep building common ground and mutual trust, and jointly create a big Asian family of solidarity and progress. We should resolutely defend true multilateralism, safeguard the U.N.-centered international system and the international order underpinned by international law, and make global governance more just and equitable.

We need to cement the foundation of mutual respect. Countries must make equality, mutual respect and mutual trust the ground rules of engagement. They should show respect for different historical and cultural traditions and different stages of development, for each other’s core interests and major concerns, and for the development paths and systems independently chosen by people of all countries. We must jointly uphold the “golden rule” of non-interference, and jointly oppose acts of imposing one’s will on others, stoking bloc confrontation, creating small circles, and forcing others to pick sides.

李克强：50年前，中美两国打破坚冰，开启了关系正常化航程。半个世纪过去了，两国关系虽然时有磕磕碰碰，但一直是向前发展的。我们还是希望，双方按照两国元首去年年底视频会晤达成的共识，相互尊重、和平共处、合作共赢，以理性和建设性的方式妥善管控分歧，尊重彼此的核心利益和重大关切。还是要多对话、多沟通。既然双方互相打开了大门，就不应再关上，更不能“脱钩”。

Premier Li: Fifty years ago, China and the US broke the ice and started a journey of normalizing relations between the two countries. Half a century has passed. China-US relations have all along been moving forward despite ups and downs. We hope that the two countries will act in accordance with the common understandings reached between the two Presidents in their virtual meeting at the end of last year, respect each other, live together in peace and pursue win-win cooperation. We hope the two countries will properly manage differences in a rational and constructive manner, and respect each other’s core interests and major concerns. It is preferable to have more dialogue and communication. Now that the door has been opened, it shouldn’t be shut again, still less should there be decoupling.
