当前，世界进入新的动荡变革期，面临关键抉择。是任由世界动荡不安，还是推动其重回和平发展的正道？我想到俄罗斯作家车尔尼雪夫斯基的著作《怎么办？》，书中主人公的坚强意志和奋斗激情，正是当前我们所需要的精神力量。时代的风浪越大，我们越要勇立潮头，以坚韧不拔之志、敢为人先之勇、识变应变之谋，把金砖打造成促进“全球南方”团结合作的主要渠道、推动全球治理变革的先锋力量。

As the world enters a new period defined by turbulence and transformation, we are confronted with pivotal choices that will shape our future. Should we allow the world to descend into the abyss of disorder and chaos, or should we strive to steer it back on the path of peace and development? This reminds me of a novel by Nikolay Chernyshevsky entitled What Is to Be Done? The protagonist’s unwavering determination and passionate drive are exactly the kind of willpower we need today. The more tumultuous our times become, the more we must stand firm at the forefront, exhibiting tenacity, demonstrating the audacity to pioneer and displaying the wisdom to adapt. We must work together to build BRICS into a primary channel for strengthening solidarity and cooperation among Global South nations and a vanguard for advancing global governance reform.

中马两国是安危与共、荣辱与共、患难与共的命运共同体。“有福同享、有难同当”，是两国共同的谚语，道出了中马命运共同体的真谛。双方要勇立潮头、奋楫争先，共同开辟发展、壮大、繁荣的美好前景。

As a community with a shared future, China and Malaysia share the smooth times and the rough, stand united in peace and crisis, and thrive and endure together. “Share weal and woe,” a popular proverb in both countries, defines the very essence of such a relationship. We must stay ahead of the times, surge forward with unyielding resolve, and jointly build a brighter future of development, growth, and prosperity.

过去一年，金砖合作有亮度、有速度、有力度。我们勇立潮头，以扩员开启“全球南方”联合自强新纪元。金砖感召力不断上升，吸引力持续增强，金字招牌越来越亮。我们相互成就，扩员后的金砖占全球人口近一半、全球贸易五分之一，经济总量按购买力平价计算已超七国集团。今年一季度，中国对金砖国家进出口同比增长超过11%，金砖逆风跑出了加速度。我们团结一心，召开金砖国家领导人巴以问题特别峰会，在二十国集团等多边机制中共同捍卫发展中国家权益，金砖的声音更加有力。

Over the past year, BRICS cooperation has moved forward with highlights, with speed and with strength. We made pioneering efforts and expanded the BRICS mechanism, opening up a new chapter of the Global South seeking strength through unity. With growing appeal and inspiration, BRICS has further burnished its credentials. We enabled each other’s success. Upon expansion, BRICS countries account for nearly half of the global population and one-fifth of global trade, and their total economic output has overtaken that of G7 in PPP terms. In the first quarter of this year, China’s import and export with its BRICS partners increased by over 11 percent year on year. Despite global headwinds, BRICS cooperation is picking up speed. Standing in solidarity, we convened the Extraordinary Joint Meeting of BRICS Leaders and Leaders of Invited BRICS Members on the Situation in the Middle East with Particular Reference to Gaza, and jointly defended the common interests of the developing world in such multilateral mechanisms as the G20. We BRICS countries are now speaking with a stronger voice.

这一年的步伐，我们走得很坚实。疫情防控平稳转段，我国经济持续回升向好，高质量发展扎实推进。现代化产业体系更加健全，一批高端化、智能化、绿色化新型支柱产业快速崛起。粮食生产“二十连丰”，绿水青山成色更足，乡村振兴展现新气象。东北全面振兴谱写新篇，雄安新区拔节生长，长江经济带活力脉动，粤港澳大湾区勇立潮头。中国经济在风浪中强健了体魄、壮实了筋骨。

This year, we have marched forward with solid steps. We achieved a smooth transition in our COVID-19 response efforts. The Chinese economy has sustained the momentum of recovery. Steady progress has been made in pursuing high-quality development. Our modernized industrial system has been further upgraded. A number of advanced, smart and green industries are rapidly emerging as new pillars of the economy. We have secured a bumper harvest for the 20th year in a row. Waters have become clearer and mountains greener. New advances have been made in pursuing rural revitalization. New progress has been made in fully revitalizing northeast China. The Xiong'an New Area is growing fast, the Yangtze River Economic Belt is full of vitality, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is embracing new development opportunities. Having weathered the storm, the Chinese economy is more resilient and dynamic than before.
