不忘初心，方得始终。中国共产党立志于中华民族千秋伟业，百年恰是风华正茂。过去一百年，党向人民、向历史交出了一份优异的答卷。现在，党团结带领中国人民又踏上了实现第二个百年奋斗目标新的赶考之路。时代是出卷人，我们是答卷人，人民是阅卷人。我们一定要继续考出好成绩，在新时代新征程上展现新气象新作为。

To accomplish the Party’s mission, we must never forget why we started. The Communist Party of China remains focused on achieving lasting greatness for the Chinese nation, and a hundred years on from its founding, the Party is still in its prime. Over the past century, the Party has secured extraordinary historical achievements on behalf of the people. Today, it is rallying and leading the Chinese people on a new journey to realize the Second Centenary Goal. It is up to the people to judge how the Party performs in the test of the times. We must continue to perform well, take an entirely new look in the new era, and make new accomplishments on our new journey.

第一个问题：我们为什么会走到一起来？这就要回溯当初成立上合组织的出发点，或者叫动因，或者叫初心。中国人常讲，不忘初心，方得始终。22年前，上合组织应地区国家共促友好、共保安全、共谋发展的愿望而成立。目前已经从最初的“上海五国”发展到9个成员国、3个观察员国、14个对话伙伴，成员国人口占全球近一半、经济总量约占全球四分之一。上合组织的发展，是“上海精神”的生动写照，也彰显了“上海精神”的生命力。我们走到一起来，更直白地说，就是要使地区的事务由地区国家自己作主、商量着办，而不受域外国家的干扰、搅局和操弄。这又充分体现为我们相互间的包容性和整体上的自主性。在动荡不安、变乱交织的当今世界，我们重温上合组织的初心尤为必要。初心是原点，也是准星，是我们面对不确定性时的确定性指引。只有牢记初心使命，坚持团结协作，我们才能切实维护本地区的和平安宁，推动本地区的发展繁荣，也才能为世界和平与发展注入更多确定性和正能量。

The first question is: What brought us together? To answer this question, we need to go back to the starting point of the SCO, in other words, the founding mission or original aspiration of this Organization. We Chinese often say, never forget why you started, and you can accomplish your mission. Twenty-two years ago, the SCO was founded in response to the shared aspiration of regional countries for promoting friendship, safeguarding security and pursuing development. Today, the Organization has grown from the original "Shanghai Five" to nine member states, three observer states, and 14 dialogue partners. SCO member states now account for nearly half of the world's population and about one quarter of the global GDP. The SCO's development is a vivid illustration of the Shanghai Spirit, and a clear example of its strong vitality. To put it plainly, we came together in the firm belief that regional affairs should be discussed and managed together by countries in the region, free from the disturbance, meddling and manipulation of non-regional countries. Such a belief is also reflected in our accommodation toward each other and our autonomy as a whole. In today's turbulent and changing world, it is all the more necessary that we review the founding mission of the SCO. It is where we started our journey, and also a lodestar providing a direction of certainty as we navigate the uncertain times. Only when we remain true to the founding mission and uphold solidarity and coordination can we truly safeguard peace and tranquility and boost development and prosperity in our region, and contribute more certainty and positive energy to world peace and development.

七月一日，我们隆重庆祝中国共产党成立一百周年。站在天安门城楼上感慨系之，历史征程风云激荡，中国共产党人带领亿万人民经千难而百折不挠、历万险而矢志不渝，成就了百年大党的恢宏气象。不忘初心，方得始终。我们唯有踔厉奋发、笃行不怠，方能不负历史、不负时代、不负人民。

On July 1, we solemnly celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Standing on the Tian'anmen Rostrum, one could only marvel at the extraordinary journey traveled by this major Party, a journey of Chinese Communists leading the Chinese people, in their hundreds of millions, in an unyielding struggle against all obstacles and challenges, and scoring spectacular, epoch-making achievements over the past century. To accomplish our great mission, we must always remain true to our original aspiration. Only through vigorous and determined endeavor can we fulfill our responsibility to history, prove worthy of our times and live up to people's expectations.

不忘初心，方得始终。中国共产党人的初心和使命，就是为中国人民谋幸福，为中华民族谋复兴。这个初心和使命是激励中国共产党人不断前进的根本动力。全党同志一定要永远与人民同呼吸、共命运、心连心，永远把人民对美好生活的向往作为奋斗目标，以永不懈怠的精神状态和一往无前的奋斗姿态，继续朝着实现中华民族伟大复兴的宏伟目标奋勇前进。

Never forget why you started, and you can accomplish your mission. The original aspiration and the mission of Chinese Communists is to seek happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation. This original aspiration, this mission, is what inspires Chinese Communists to advance. In our Party, each and every one of us must always breathe the same breath as the people, share the same future, and stay truly connected to them. The aspirations of the people to live a better life must always be the focus of our efforts. We must keep on striving with endless energy toward the great goal of national rejuvenation.
