党的十八大以来，党中央以前所未有的力度抓生态文明建设，全党全国推动绿色发展的自觉性和主动性显著增强，美丽中国建设迈出重大步伐，我国生态环境保护发生历史性、转折性、全局性变化。

Since the Party’s 18th National Congress, the Central Committee has devoted greater efforts than ever before to ecological conservation. The whole Party and the entire nation have become more conscious and active in pursuing green development, and made significant progress in building a Beautiful China. Our environmental protection endeavors have seen sweeping, historic, and transformative changes.

十年来，在能源安全新战略指引下，中国深入推进能源生产和消费方式变革，能源供给保障能力全面提升，能源绿色低碳发展实现历史性突破，有力保障了经济社会高质量发展，更好满足了人民日益增长的美好生活需要，有效支撑了美丽中国建设。

Over the past decade, China has furthered reform of its energy production and consumption methods, upgraded its energy supply capacity under the guidance of its new energy security strategy, and achieved historic breakthroughs in green and low-carbon energy development. These achievements have provided strong support for realizing high-quality economic and social development and better meeting the people’s growing desire for a better life, and served to underpin the Beautiful China initiative. 

能源资源实现绿色集约化开发，绿色开发技术广泛应用，矿山生态环境得到明显改善。在沙漠、戈壁、荒漠及采煤沉陷区推广“光伏+”生态修复新模式。PM2.5平均浓度累计下降54%，重污染天数下降了83%，有效支撑了美丽中国建设。

Green and intensive development of energy and resources has been realized, green technology for energy and resource development has been widely applied, and the eco-environment of mines has seen significant improvement. The PV-based environmental restoration model has been successfully introduced in desert and coal mining subsidence areas. The average concentration of PM2.5 has fallen by 54 percent over the past decade, and the number of days with heavy pollution has decreased by 83 percent, serving to underpin the Beautiful China initiative. 

毛宁：今天不仅是世界环境日，也是中国环境保护法确定的环境日，今年我国环境日主题是“全面推进美丽中国建设”。在习近平生态文明思想指引下，人与自然和谐共生的美好画卷正在中国大地铺展。中国已经成为全球改善空气质量速度最快的国家，蓝天更多了。中国实现森林面积和森林蓄积连续40年双增长，大地更绿了。2023年中国单位国内生产总值二氧化碳排放较2012年下降超35%，全国可再生能源装机规模已占总装机的52.9%，绿色转型更快了。

Mao Ning: Today is not only the World Environment Day, but also the Environment Day in China established by our Environmental Protection Law. This year, the theme for China’s Environment Day is “all-round effort for a beautiful China.” Under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, China is now seeing a beautiful scroll of harmonious coexistence between man and nature unfolding on its land. China has achieved the most rapid improvement in air quality among the world’s countries. We are enjoying more days with blue sky. China’s forest area and forest stock volume have both been increasing for 40 consecutive years. Our land is greener. In 2023, China’s CO2 emissions per unit of GDP dropped by over 35 percent than that of 2012, and installed capacity of renewable energy accounted for 52.9 percent of the total installed capacity. Our green transition is picking up speed.
