党中央强调，生态文明建设是关乎中华民族永续发展的根本大计，保护生态环境就是保护生产力，改善生态环境就是发展生产力，决不以牺牲环境为代价换取一时的经济增长。必须坚持绿水青山就是金山银山的理念，坚持山水林田湖草沙一体化保护和系统治理，像保护眼睛一样保护生态环境，像对待生命一样对待生态环境，更加自觉地推进绿色发展、循环发展、低碳发展，坚持走生产发展、生活富裕、生态良好的文明发展道路。

The Central Committee has emphasized that ecological conservation is of vital importance for the sustainable development of the Chinese nation. To protect the environment is to protect the productive forces, and to improve the environment is to boost the productive forces. We must never sacrifice the environment in exchange for transient economic growth. We must stay true to the principle that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets, continue our holistic approach to the conservation of mountain, river, forest, farmland, lake, grassland, and desert ecosystems, and protect and cherish our natural environment as we do our own lives. We must act with greater resolve to promote green, circular, and low-carbon development, and adhere to a model of sustainable development featuring increased production, higher living standards, and healthy ecosystems.

三是推动公正转型。绿水青山就是金山银山。绿色转型是应对气候变化的必由之路，也是经济社会发展的新引擎。绿色转型必须以人民为中心，协同推进民生福祉改善和气候治理，统筹保护环境、发展经济、创造就业、消除贫困等多重目标。发达国家有义务向发展中国家提供帮助和支持，助力全球绿色低碳转型，增进各国人民共同和长远福祉。

Third, we must accelerate the just transition. Clear waters and green mountains are just as valuable as gold and silver. Green transformation is not only the essential way to address climate change, but also a new engine for economic and social development. Such transformation must be people-centered and pursued in a way that advances the well-being of people and climate governance in tandem, and strike a balance between multiple goals including environmental protection, economic growth, job creation, and poverty alleviation. Developed countries are obliged to extend assistance and support to developing countries, help drive the global shift toward green and low-carbon development, and contribute to the common and long-term well-being of people of all countries.

总台央视记者：非洲媒体近期报道称，受制于各种内外部因素，非洲国家在实现《巴黎协定》、联合国可持续发展目标上面临压力。但同时，在中非合作论坛等框架内进一步巩固的中非友谊，以及中国与非洲国家不断分享现代化成果，为非洲的绿色转型奠定了坚实基础。不少非洲国家积极借鉴中方“绿水青山就是金山银山”理念经验，创造性点出“绿色就是金子”（Green is gold）。发言人对此有何评论？

CCTV: African media wrote in their recent report that African countries are pressed to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement and the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals, due to internal and external reasons. However, the consolidation of China-Africa relations within such frameworks as the Forum for China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), and the commitment to sharing the gains of modernization provide a strong foundation for transformative green transition in Africa. Many African countries came up with the idea of “green is gold” by drawing experience from China’s philosophy of “green mountains and lucid waters are mountains of gold and silver.” What’s your comment?

绿色是生态文明的底色。中国牢固树立和践行绿水青山就是金山银山的理念，从人与自然和谐共生的高度谋划发展方式转型，着力转变对能源资源的路径依赖，推动经济社会发展全面绿色转型。

Green development is a defining feature of an eco-civilization. China firmly believes that clear waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets, and acts accordingly. It therefore plans to transition its development model to one that achieves harmony between humanity and nature as a major focus. China is moving away from the traditional path of heavy dependence on energy and resources, as the country looks to promote a green transformation in every aspect of its economic and social development.
