But this is also an era where the South is rising and great changes are taking place. The collective rise of EMDCs has greatly advanced multipolarity in the world. Many countries have entered a fast track of development, and the Global South now accounts for over 40 percent of the world economy. The latest round of technological revolution and industrial transformation is demonstrating a strong momentum, and EMDCs are embracing unprecedented opportunities for achieving leapfrog development. The Global South is no longer the “silent majority,” but an awakening new force.

During the visit, Premier Li Qiang met with the UAE’s President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, had talks with the UAE’s Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and attended the China-UAE Business Forum. Premier Li Qiang said that China and the UAE are good partners on the path to common development, and strengthening cooperation and helping each other succeed is in the fundamental interest of both countries. China has long put the UAE front and center in its Middle East diplomacy. China stands ready to continue working with the UAE to firmly support each other, consolidate the political foundation of bilateral relations, further enhance cooperation in various fields, and make bilateral relations grow with vigor and vitality, and achieve greater progress. Both sides need to further tap into cooperation potential, expand bilateral trade, foster more new drivers of economic growth, and contribute to each other’s sustainable development. Premier Li Qiang encouraged the companies from both sides to ride on the trend of the times and seize new opportunities of cooperation from both sides’ sustained and determined efforts to work with each other. Companies need to seize the new opportunities from, first, high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, second, increasing synergy between the two countries’ development strategies, and third, burgeoning technological and industrial innovation. 我们坚持互惠互利。塞尔维亚是中国在中东欧地区首个自由贸易伙伴。去年，中国是塞尔维亚最大投资来源国和第二大贸易伙伴。双方经贸、产业链、基础设施建设合作方兴未艾，助力两国各自现代化进程。2016年我到访的河钢斯梅戴雷沃钢厂已是塞尔维亚三大出口企业之一。塞尔维亚的蜂蜜、红酒、牛羊肉等农食产品备受中国消费者喜爱。

Our two countries have stayed committed to mutual benefit. Serbia is China’s first free trade partner in Central and Eastern Europe. Last year, China was Serbia’s largest source of foreign investment and its second largest trading partner. Our thriving cooperation in trade and economic relations, industrial chain, and infrastructure development lends a great boost to our respective process of modernization. In 2016, I visited the Smederevo steel plant of HBIS Serbia, which has become one of the three biggest export companies in Serbia. Serbian honey, red wine, beef, lamb and other agricultural products are very popular among Chinese consumers.

在峰会共识的引领下，中国同中亚国家合作取得了可喜的成果。过去的一年，中国同中亚五国贸易额接近900亿美元，同比增长27.2%，再创历史新高。双方经贸、能源、农业等传统领域合作方兴未艾，高新技术、绿色能源、电子商务等新兴领域合作亮点纷呈。中欧班列运力持续提升，中吉乌铁路、中塔公路二期关键路段等大项目稳步推进，双方直航客运航班增至68班，中国同中亚立体化互联互通格局不断完善。中亚首家中国文化中心在吉落户，鲁班工坊在塔运营良好，孔子学院广受当地民众欢迎，双方友城数量增至80对。这一项项实打实的合作成果，展现了中国—中亚机制的独特优势和巨大潜力。

Guided by the consensus reached at the summit, fruitful results have been achieved in the cooperation between China and Central Asian countries. Over the past year, trade between China and the five Central Asian countries amounted to almost USD 90 billion, up by 27.2 percent year-on-year hitting a new record high. While cooperation in traditional areas, such as economy and trade, energy and agriculture, is booming, cooperation in emerging areas, such as high tech, green energy and e-commerce, shows numerous highlights. The capacity of China-Europe freight trains has been enhanced. Major projects including the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan highway and key section of the China-Tajikistan Highway Phase II project are well underway. Direct passenger flights connecting China and Central Asian countries have been increased to 68 with an improving multi-dimensional interconnectivity paradigm. The first Chinese culture center in Central Asia was launched in Kyrgyzstan, the Luban Workshop in Tajikistan is operating soundly and Confucius Institutes are popular among local people. There are now 80 pairs of sister cities between China and Central Asian countries. These tangible cooperation results showcase the unique advantage and enormous potential of the China-Central Asia mechanism.
