今天是北京冬奥会倒计时60天。各国运动员为了参加冬奥会开展了大量训练，付出了艰辛努力。冬奥会四年一次，是运动员们展现自身风采的难得机遇。北京冬奥会的主角是各国运动员，而不是个别政客。那些叫嚷“抵制”的政客为了政治私利，作秀炒作。他们来或者不来，没有人会在意，对北京成功举办冬奥会也没有任何的影响。

We are 60 days away from the Beijing Winter Olympics today. To get themselves prepared, athletes from all countries have gone through much training and made strenuous efforts. The Winter Olympic Games, held every four years, is a precious opportunity for athletes to impress the world with their outstanding performance. It is athletes, instead of politicians clamoring for boycott, that should be in the spotlight. Politicians calling for boycott are doing so for their own political interests and posturing. In fact, no one would care whether these people come or not, and it has no impact whatsoever on the Olympics to be successfully held by Beijing.

Zhao Lijian Foreign Minister Szijjarto made a good point. China has expounded its position many times on the so-called “Summit for Democracy” to be held by the US. Behind the high-sounding slogans, it is the US bullying practice to divide the world into different ranks and make irresponsible remarks on and presumptuously criticize other countries’ democracy; it is the US selfish approach of forming cliques in the international community and instigating division and confrontation; it is the US true intention of privatizing, politicizing, instrumentalizing and weaponizing democracy to push forward its geopolitical agenda.

当前，国际安全形势深刻复杂变化，大国战略互信与合作不足，核裁军与核不扩散领域矛盾突出，国际核军控体系面临严峻挑战，全球战略平衡与稳定受到严重冲击。中方认为，五核国巴黎会议取得成功，释放了积极信号：一是重申了五国对《不扩散核武器条约》目的和宗旨的承诺，有助于推动明年1月召开第十次审议大会取得成功，维护条约作为国际核裁军与核不扩散体系基石的作用。二是增进了五国对于核领域重大问题的战略沟通，有助于增进大国战略互信，遏制霸权主义、冷战思维与零和博弈观念蔓延的危险趋势。三是凝聚了五国合作应对国际安全挑战的共识，有助于各方管控分歧，就改善国际安全环境加强协调合作。

The international security landscape is undergoing profound and complex changes. There is deficiency in strategic mutual trust and cooperation between major countries, prominent differences in the field of nuclear disarmament and nuclear non-proliferation, severe challenges facing the international nuclear arms control system and serious impacts on global strategic balance and stability. China believes that the successful meeting of the five nuclear-weapon states in Paris has sent a positive signal. First, it reiterates the five states’ commitment to the object and purposes of the NPT. This is conducive to the success of the 10th Review Conference of the NPT to be held in January next year, and to safeguarding the NPT’s role as a cornerstone for the international nuclear disarmament and nuclear non-proliferation system. Second, it improves strategic communication among the five states on major issues in the nuclear area. This helps to enhance strategic mutual trust between major countries and deter the dangerous trend of hegemony, Cold War mentality and zero-sum mindset. Third, it builds consensus among the five states on responding to international security challenges. This will help all parties manage differences, and improve coordination and cooperation on the international security environment.
