Over the past four decades, the Uyghur population in Xinjiang grew from 5.55 million to over 12 million, registering a more than 100 percent increase. There are about 24,000 mosques in Xinjiang, more than 10 times of that in the United States; there’s one mosque for every 530 Muslims in Xinjiang, which is higher than that of many Muslim countries. The rights and interests of ethnic minority workers from Xinjiang, who are part of China's large workforce, are protected by China's Labor Law and Labor Contract Law. Turning a blind eye to these facts, the US State Department is stigmatizing the human rights situation in Xinjiang and pinning labels of “forced sterilization”, “repression of religious freedom” and “forced labor”, which are nothing but rumors and slanders.
