Wang Wenbin Democracy is a common value of humanity instead of a geostrategic tool. The US privatizes the public good of democracy, stoke division and confrontation in the name of democracy, and undermine the UN-centered international system and the international order underpinned by international law. All this is done to defend the US hegemony, which is out-and-out anti-democratic.

事实早已证明，把一国的民主模式强加给世界根本行不通。美国试图按照美式标准把世界划分为“民主”和“非民主”两大阵营，公然挑动分裂和对抗。这种行径只会给世界带来更大的动荡和灾难，必然受到国际社会的强烈谴责和反对。

Facts have proven long ago that exerting one’s own model of democracy on the world doesn’t work. The US tries to divide the world into “democratic” and “undemocratic” camps by its own standard, and blatantly instigates division and confrontation. Such practice will only cause more turmoil and disasters to the world, and will meet strong condemnation and opposition from the international community.

Wang Wenbin First I’d like to say that the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Nicaragua is a political decision, not a bargaining chip. Nicaragua made this political decision based on its recognition of the one-China principle. There is no economic precondition. China highly appreciates its position. I want to add that the resumption of diplomatic ties opens broad prospects for the development of bilateral relations. The two sides will conduct all-round mutually-beneficial cooperation on the basis of the one-China principle. We will increase exchange at various levels and enhance mutual trust. We will actively conduct anti-epidemic cooperation, draw on each other’s complementary strengths, actively promote practical cooperation and exchange in various areas, and advance our people’s wellbeing. We will also maintain close communication and coordination in international and regional affairs to safeguard developing countries’ common interests.

Not long ago, the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly adopted by consensus the resolution on Olympic Truce for the Beijing Winter Games that is co-sponsored by 173 countries, showcasing the international community’s full supportfor the Beijing Winter Olympics. We are seeing more and more governments and national Olympic committees expressing in public their supportfor the 2022 Beijing Games. IOC President Thomas Bach underlined the mission of the Games to unite the world. It could be the end of the Olympic Movement if politics got involved. It is against the mission of the IOC if Olympics is used to intensify conflicts and differences.
