China News Service In response to a question on December 17, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that the US position on Taiwan is clear because it is a position that the US has sustained to maintain peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait for decades. It is rooted in the one-China policy, the Taiwan Relations Act, the three communiqués. The whole purpose of American policy toward Taiwan and toward cross-Strait relations is fundamentally designed to ensure that the US never faces a circumstance in which it needs to directly answer the question of whether the US will come to Taiwan’s aid in case of potential attack. He added that “we believe there is a formula that works to maintain the status quo” and “to not have unilateral changes to the status quo”. Do you have any response to that?

第一，世界上只有一个中国，台湾是中国的一部分。这既是不容改变的历史和法理事实，也是不容挑战的现状。民进党当局拒绝承认体现一个中国原则的“九二共识”，不断挑动两岸对立，妄图“倚美谋独”。这才是改变现状，也是台海局势紧张的根源。美国一些势力顽固操弄“以台制华”助长了“台独”势力的嚣张气焰，加剧了台海紧张。

First, there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is part of China. This is not only a historical and legal fact that cannot be changed, but also a status quo that cannot be challenged. The DPP authorities refuse to recognize the 1992 Consensus that embodies the one-China principle, constantly provoke confrontation across the Taiwan Strait, and solicit US support for the purpose of seeking Taiwan independence. This is what changes the status quo and is also the source of tensions across the Taiwan Strait. Some forces in the US have obstinately manipulated the Taiwan question to contain China. They have emboldened the Taiwan independence forces and increased tensions across the Taiwan Strait.

第三，中国实现完全统一是不可阻挡的历史潮流，不会因任何人、任何势力、任何国家而改变。我们敦促美方严肃对待中方立场和关切，在涉台问题上谨言慎行，停止美台军事联系，停止发展美台实质关系，停止向“台独”势力发出任何错误信号。

Third, China’s complete reunification is unstoppable. The historical trend will not be changed by anyone, any force or any country. We urge the US side to take seriously China’s position and concerns, be cautious in words and deeds on Taiwan-related issues, stop military contacts with Taiwan, stop developing ties with Taiwan in essence, and stop sending any wrong signal to the Taiwan independence forces.

The experiences shared by the cotton farmers and enterprise employees in Xinjiang have debunked the outrageous lie of “forced labor” fabricated by the US. To serve the scheme of containing China with the Xinjiang issue, some US politicians have stopped at nothing to smear and slander Xinjiang. This is another example of the attempt, which will further reveal the true face of these people. Regardless of all the clamors of these US politicians, Xinjiang will only make faster progress in its prosperity and development.
