Zhao Lijian China attaches importance to the China-Germany comprehensive strategic partnership. We believe that developing the bilateral relations well meets the common interests of the two countries and the two peoples, and benefits China-Europe exchange and cooperation. Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Germany diplomatic relations. We hope the new German government can carry on China policies that are practical, work with China in the same direction, develop bilateral relations based on mutual respect, equality and mutual benefits, and focus on advancing practical cooperation between China and Germany in various areas.

I want to stress that issues related to Taiwan, Xinjiang and Hong Kong are all China’s internal affairs, bearing on China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Successive German governments all followed the one-China policy. We hope the new German government would continue to follow the policy, respect China’s core interests and safeguard the political foundation for the bilateral relations.

赵立坚亚洲-非洲法律协商组织（亚非法协）是唯一横跨亚非两大洲的国际法合作平台。亚非法协第59届会议将是中国第三次主办年会，也是李克强总理继2015年后第二次出席年会开幕式，充分显示了中国政府对亚非法协的重视。中方愿同亚非国家一道，继续弘扬万隆精神，共同维护国际法、促进国际法治。
Zhao Lijian The Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO) is the only cooperation platform dedicated to international law spanning Asia and Africa. The 59th Annual Session of AALCO will be the third annual session hosted by China. It will be the second time Premier Li Keqiang has attended the opening ceremony following the one in 2015. This fully demonstrates the importance attached by the Chinese government to AALCO. China is ready to work with Asian and African countries to carry forward the Bandung Spirit, jointly defend international law and promote international rule of law.

赵立坚美国举办所谓“领导人民主峰会”的真实目的是什么，国际社会看得越来越清楚。大家不仅要看美国怎么说，也要看美国怎么做。美国是不是在借所谓“民主”之名搞小集团和小圈子，行遏制打压他国、挑动分裂对抗之实？国际社会不难基于事实作出正确客观的判断。
Zhao Lijian The international community has seen more and more clearly why the US is putting together this so-called “Summit for Democracy”. We should watch what the US does, not just listen to what it says. With regard to whether the US is creating cliques and blocs, oppressing others and instigating division and confrontation under the pretext of so-called “democracy”, the international community can make correct and objective judgment based on facts.
我想强调的是，全人类是命运共同体，刻意划分“自己人”和“外人”不利于世界和平与战略稳定。即使是所谓“自己人”，恐怕也被分成三六九等了吧。这方面的教训已经够多了。民主不是某个国家的专利，而是全人类的共同价值。民主的形式和实现民主的道路并不是唯一的。没有任何一个国家有资格垄断对民主的定义权和裁判权。
I want to stress that all humanity share the same future. Deliberate division of “us” and “them” does not serve world peace and strategic stability. Even the “us” group may not consist of equals. Lessons abound. Democracy is not a patent held by a certain country, but a common value of humanity. There is more than one form of democracy, and more than one path to realize democracy. No country has the right to monopolize the definition and judgement of democracy.
