今年以来，芝加哥大学已经连续发生三起学生遭枪击身亡的恶性事件，三名受害者中有两名是中国留学生。一再发生这样的悲剧，与美国长期泛滥的枪支暴力现象脱不了干系。美国枪支暴力档案网站公布的最新数据显示，截至11月21日，今年全美枪支暴力致死数量达39892人，大概率将成为20年以来美国枪支暴力犯罪最严重的一年，其中更是包括1345名未成年人。据报道，有关案件发生后，数百名芝加哥大学学生举行游行，高喊“我们是来学习的，不是来送死的”。不知一贯标榜所谓“自由”“人权”的美国政府官员是否听到了这些撕心裂肺的呼声？不知他们将作何回应？中方要求美国政府采取负责任的措施，保护好包括中国留学生在内的所有在美中国公民的人身安全，使他们免受恶性暴力犯罪和仇亚反华行为的侵害。

Since the start of this year, malicious incidents including three deadly shootings against students have occurred in the University of Chicago. Two of the three victims were students from China. The repeated tragedies have a lot to do with gun violence long proliferating in the US. According to the latest data published on the Gun Violence Archive website, by November 21, up to 39,892 people died from gun violence in the US this year, making the year 2021 highly likely to record the gravest gun violence in the US for 20 years. Among the victims, as many as 1,345 are minors. Reports show after the shooting of the Chinese student, hundreds of students of the University of Chicago took to the street, shouting "We Are Here To Learn, Not To Die". Have US officials professing "freedom" and "human rights" heard these heart-breaking appeals? How will they respond? China asks the US government to take responsible measures to ensure the safety of all Chinese citizens in the US including Chinese students and protect them from malicious violent crimes, and anti-Asia and China-bashing acts.

Just two days ago, a special freight train loaded with more than 1,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid supplies and daily necessities donated by China departed from Wuxi Railway Station inXinjiang and will be delivered to Afghanistan by railway and road transport. It is the third special freight train from China's Xinjiang to Afghanistan. The supplies include cotton-padded clothes, cotton shoes, blankets,Nang (traditional flatbread in Xinjiang)and milk tea powder, all of which are urgently needed by the Afghan people during the winter.

作为阿富汗的友好近邻和真诚朋友，中方一直在为阿富汗和平重建和经济发展提供力所能及的帮助。为帮助阿富汗人民缓解困难，中方向阿富汗援助了大批人道主义物资。当前，中方正加紧落实向阿方提供2亿元人民币人道主义物资援助，其中越冬物资已全部运抵阿国内。5000多吨粮食和300万剂新冠疫苗援助将分批发送。我们将继续倾听阿富汗人民的呼声和需求，为帮助阿富汗渡过难关发挥更大建设性作用。

As Afghanistan's friendly neighbor and sincere friend, China has been providing Afghanistan with help for peace and reconstruction as well as economic development to the best of its abilities. To help the Afghan people overcome difficulties, China has donated large amounts of humanitarian supplies. China is following through on the 200 million yuan worth of emergency humanitarian assistance for Afghanistan, among which winter supplies have been delivered to Afghanistan. More than 5,000 tonnes of grains and 3 million doses of COVID vaccines will be shipped in batches. We will continue to heed the appeal and need of the Afghan people and play a bigger and constructive part in helping Afghanistan tide over difficulties.
