This is the 12th "Love Knows No Borders" international charity sale hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For 11 consecutive years, this endeavor has yielded fruitful results, becoming a well-known gathering for charitable causes, a window displaying a rich variety of diverse culture, and a platform for the Chinese public to get a taste of the exotic world at their doorstep. It has brought the love of the world and people from all walks of life to the impoverished mountain villagers, the disabled and children, giving them hope and helping them towards a better life.
“大爱无国界”国际义卖活动是外交部扶贫工作的一个重要品牌。从1992年起，外交部开始定点帮扶云南省金平、麻栗坡两个国家级贫困县。28年来，外交部有100多名干部投身扶贫工作，39名同事到两县挂职。据不完全统计，外交部扶贫办人员仅从昆明到两县间的陆地行程就已超过100多万公里，足以绕赤道25圈以上。外交部在两县实施了教育、卫生、饮水、培训、整村推进、产业等六大领域1600多个扶贫项目。我们非常高兴地看到，今年5月，金平、麻栗坡已经成功实现了脱贫摘帽的目标。
The charity sale is a brand project in the ministry's poverty-reduction efforts. Back in 1992, the ministry paired up with two state-designated impoverished counties Jinping and Malipo in Yunnan Province. Over the past 28 years, more than 100 ministry colleagues have dedicated themselves to poverty-alleviation efforts, with 39 seconded to the two counties, where three of them as village party secretary. Based on incomplete statistics, the mileage of MFA poverty-alleviation office personnel travelling from Kunming to the two counties has exceeded one million kilometers, 25 times the length of the Equator. More than 1,600 projects have been launched covering six major areas including education, health, drinking water, training, whole-village makeover and industrial development. In May this year, the two counties achieved the target of eradicating poverty.
