第一，中美建交40多年来，两国关系尽管经历过风风雨雨，但双方都能够从历史和大局出发，管控矛盾和分歧，妥善处理敏感问题，维护了中美关系总体稳定发展的势头。中美合作是互惠互利的，不是单向的。中美建交以来，双方各领域务实合作不断拓展，给两国和两国人民都带来了巨大好处，美方也从中受益匪浅。美国一些政客抛出的“吃亏论”、“恩赐论”等种种涉华谬论，其实质是出于意识形态偏见渲染“中国威胁论”，鼓吹冷战和零和博弈思维，既不符合事实，也不尊重历史，完全是在开历史倒车。
First, over the past four decades or so since diplomatic ties were established, despite twists and turns, China and the US have all along maintained the momentum of steady development in bilateral relations by managing disagreements and differences and properly handling sensitive issues from a historical and overall perspective. China-US cooperation is mutually-beneficial, not a one-way street. The expanding practical cooperation has brought tremendous benefits for the two countries and peoples. Some American politicians claim falsely that the US has been ripped off by China and that China's development is a gift from the US. In essence, they are driven by ideological bias to hype up the so-called China threat theory and the Cold War and zero-sum game mentality. Such backpedaling shows their disregard for facts and disrespect for history.
第二，中美两国发展不是非此即彼的关系，没有必要相互排斥，完全可以相互借力、相互成就。中美理应以合作而不是“脱钩”来推动两国关系的发展，并为这个世界承担起应尽的责任。全球化是我们这个时代的现实，也是人类社会进步的方向。特别是“后疫情”时期，各国都有着复工复产、恢复正常经济运行、维护本国产业链供应链稳定的任务和需要。在此过程中，没有任何一个国家能够独善其身，各国只有“同舟共济”，才能“乘风破浪”；只有互帮互助，才能共克时艰。试图通过“脱钩”解决自身面临的问题，只能是缘木求鱼、饮鸩止渴，终将进一步损害本国企业和民众的利益。
Second, the development of China and the US is not mutually-exclusive. We are more than capable of drawing on each other's strength to achieve common development. The two countries should work together to strengthen bilateral relations and shoulder their due global responsibilities rather than decoupling with each other. Globalization is the reality of our times and the path to greater social progress. In particular, as the world enters the post-COVID era, countries are all confronted with the tasks of resuming work and production, reviving the economy, and keeping domestic industrial and supply chains stable. No country can do this alone. Only by sticking together and lending each other a helping hand can we get through the hard times. Trying to solve domestic problems through decoupling is like looking for fish in trees or drinking poison to quench thirst. The country doing so will eventually harm the interests of its own businesses and people.
第三，中国对发展中美关系的政策立场一以贯之，保持高度的稳定性和连续性。同时我们也做好了中美关系爬坡过坎、经历风雨的准备。我们敦促美国一些政客纠正错误，回归理性，正确看待和处理中美关系，停止损害中方利益、抹黑攻击中国，推动中美关系早日重回正轨。
Third, China's policy towards the US is highly consistent and stable. In the meantime, we are also prepared for possible bumps and storms ahead. We urge certain US politicians to redress their mistakes, return to reason, correctly view and handle China-US relations and stop harming Chinese interests and smearing China so as to bring bilateral ties back to the right track at an early date.

Reuters Brent Christensen, the head of the American Institute in Taiwan and the de-facto US representative to the island, took part in a commemoration of the anniversary of the 1958 "Taiwan Strait crisis" on Sunday and talked about the history of security cooperation between the US and Taiwan. Do you have any comment on this?
赵立坚中方在台湾问题上的立场是一贯的、明确的。美方所谓“美台安全合作历史”，实质是干涉中国内政、阻挠中国统一的“黑历史”。14亿中国人民都记在心里。
Zhao Lijian China's position on the Taiwan question is consistent and clear. The so-called history of security cooperation between the US and the Taiwan region is nothing but an infamous track record of interfering in China's internal affairs and obstructing China's reunification. The 1.4 billion Chinese people knows that record all too well.
我们敦促美方切实恪守一个中国原则和中美三个联合公报规定，停止玩弄各种提升美台实质关系的“小动作”，停止在台湾问题上玩火，停止向“台独”分裂势力发出任何错误信号，以免严重损害中美关系和台海和平稳定。
We urge the US to earnestly abide by the one-China principle and three China-US joint communiques, stop pulling petty tricks to change the substance of its relationship with Taiwan, stop thin-ice skating on the Taiwan question, and stop sending out misleading signals to the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces. It is the China-US relations and peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait that are at high stakes here.
