Through continued efforts, we have advanced major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics on all fronts. The concept of a human community with a shared future has become a banner leading trends of the times and human progress. China has broken new ground in its diplomatic endeavors amid profound global changes and turned crises into opportunities amid complex situations on the international stage. These efforts have resulted in a marked increase in China’s international influence, appeal, and power to shape.

展望未来，我国发展面临新的战略机遇。新征程上，中国特色大国外交将进入一个可以更有作为的新阶段。我们不能满足于以往的成就而不思进取，也不能因为外部环境风高浪急而畏首畏尾，而是要锚定实现中国式现代化，开拓进取、砥砺前行，谱写中国特色大国外交新的历史篇章。要紧紧围绕党和国家中心任务，稳中求进、守正创新，坚定维护国家主权、安全、发展利益，开辟中国外交理论与实践新境界，塑造中国与世界关系新格局，把我国国际影响力、感召力、塑造力提升到新高度。

Going forward, China faces new strategic opportunities in its development. On the new journey, major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics will enter a new stage where much more can be accomplished. We must not be complacent about our past achievements, or be intimidated by the high winds and choppy waters in the external environment. Instead, we must keep our eyes on realizing Chinese modernization, forge ahead with great enterprise and write a new chapter in the history of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics. We must focus on the central task of the CPC and the country, seek progress while maintaining stability, break new ground while upholding fundamental principles, and firmly safeguard China’s sovereignty, security and development interests. We will explore new frontiers in China’s diplomatic theory and practice, foster new dynamics in the relations between China and the world, and raise China’s international influence, appeal and ability to shape events to a new level.

就在一周前，中央外事工作会议在北京胜利召开，这是一次具有里程碑意义的会议。习近平总书记发表重要讲话，全面总结新时代中国特色大国外交取得的十个方面历史性成就，系统概括六条宝贵经验，深刻阐述新征程对外工作面临的国际环境和肩负的历史使命，对今后一个时期的对外工作作出全面部署。会议的重要成果是明确了推动构建人类命运共同体这一外交工作主线，为中国特色大国外交确立了崇高目标，为人类社会发展进步树立起光辉旗帜。会议提出要以习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想特别是习近平外交思想为指导，以更加积极主动的历史担当、更加富有活力的创造精神，开辟中国外交理论与实践的新境界，塑造我国和世界关系的新格局，把我国国际影响力、感召力、塑造力提升到新高度。

Just a week ago, the Central Conference on Work Relating to Foreign Affairs was held successfully in Beijing. This is a conference of milestone significance. General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important address, in which he comprehensively summarized the historic achievements in ten aspects of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics in the new era, presented a systematic review of six pieces of valuable experience, gave a profound exposition on the international environment and historical mission of China’s external work on the new journey and made comprehensive plans for China’s external work for the coming period. An important outcome of the conference is the identification of building a community with a shared future for mankind as the theme of our diplomatic work, setting a noble goal for major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics and holding a glorious banner for the development and progress of human society. It was made clear at the conference that guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era and Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy in particular, we need to act with a stronger sense of historical responsibility and a more vibrant spirit of innovation to explore new frontiers in China’s diplomatic theory and practice, foster new dynamics in the relations between China and the world, and raise China’s international influence, appeal and power to shape events to a new level.

—We have pursued major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics on all fronts. We have promoted the development of a human community with a shared future and stood firm in protecting international fairness and justice. We have advocated and practiced true multilateralism. We have taken a clear-cut stance against hegemonism and power politics in all their forms, and we have never wavered in our opposition to unilateralism, protectionism, and bullying of any kind. We have improved China’s overall diplomatic agenda and worked actively to build a global network of partnerships and foster a new type of international relations. We have demonstrated China’s sense of duty as a responsible major country, actively participating in the reform and development of the global governance system and engaging in all-around international cooperation in the fight against Covid-19. All this has seen us win widespread international recognition. China’s international influence, appeal, and power to shape have risen markedly.
