汪文斌今天是第十四个联合国中文日。中文作为联合国六种正式语言文字之一和世界上使用人数最多的语言之一，向世界积极传递联合国声音和主张，为联合国有效运转、世界各国沟通交流、推动多边主义发展作出积极贡献。2010年，联合国将中国农历二十四节气中的“谷雨”确立为中文日。十多年来，联合国总部和办事处，以及世界各国都会举办精彩纷呈的中文日活动，为世界各地的人们走近中文、感受中华文化提供了窗口。
Wang Wenbin Today marks the 14th UN Chinese Language Day. Chinese is one of the six official languages of the UN and one of the most spoken languages in the world. The voice and proposals of the UN have been actively conveyed to the world in this language, which has contributed significantly to the smooth running of the UN, the communication and exchanges between countries and the advancement of multilateralism. In 2010, the UN selected Guyu (“Rain of Millet”), which is one of the 24 solar terms in the traditional Chinese calendar, as the date for the Chinese Language Day. For more than a decade, the UN headquarters and offices and many countries have held diverse activities to mark this day, providing a window for people around the world to have a better understanding of the Chinese language and the Chinese culture.
我们高兴地看到，越来越多的外国朋友通过学习中文来了解丰富多彩、立体全面、真实可爱的中国。我也注意到，在座的很多外国媒体朋友都能够流利地使用中文提问。截至目前，全球共有180多个国家和地区开展中文教学，82个国家将中文纳入国民教育体系，外国正在学习中文的人数超过3000万，累计学习和使用中文的人数接近2亿。今天，中外语言交流合作中心携手全球合作伙伴，以“中文：增进文明对话”为主题，发起2023年“国际中文日”活动，与全球中文学习者、中华文化爱好者共同感知中文和中华文化的魅力。今天我们准备了一个短片，请大家观看。
We are happy to see that more and more foreign friends are getting to know a diverse, multi-faceted and amicable China as it is by learning the Chinese language. I have also noted that many of the foreign journalists here can ask questions in fluent Chinese. So far, over 180 countries and regions have launched Chinese language education and 82 countries have included it in their national curriculum. The number of people learning Chinese overseas has exceeded 30 million, and a total of nearly 200 million people have learned or used Chinese outside of China. Today, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, in collaboration with global partners, has launched this year’s International Chinese Language Day with the theme “Chinese Language: Facilitating Dialogues across Civilizations” to experience the charm of the Chinese language and the Chinese culture with language learners and culture enthusiasts worldwide.
