But can’t the US just for once do something actually meaningful for protecting its people and tackling its gun violence problem?

I want to stress that China strongly opposes the US suppressing Chinese companies by overstretching the concept of national security and abusing state power. We will continue to firmly safeguard the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of Chinese companies.
