凤凰卫视记者香港特别行政区8号完成新一届行政长官选举，欧盟发表声明称，这次选举过程进一步瓦解“一国两制”原则，违反民主原则和政治多元，欧盟对此表示遗憾。请问中方对此有何回应？

Phoenix TV The Sixth-Term Chief Executive election of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) was concluded on May 8. The European Union, in its statement, “regrets this violation of democratic principles and political pluralism and sees this selection process as yet another step in the dismantling of the One Country, Two Systems principle”. What is China’s response to that?

在香港新选制度全面落地生根、民主发展优化提升之际，欧盟等外部势力急不可耐地跳出来，对此次选举的过程和结果指指点点、攻击抹黑。这充分暴露了他们打着民主自由旗号、干涉中国内政、破坏香港繁荣稳定的真实面目。对于“泛政治化”和黑暴肆虐的假民主，他们拍手叫好；对于符合香港实际、落实“爱国者治港”的真民主，他们却如坐针毡。包括广大香港同胞在内的全体中国人民早已把他们的“民主双标”看得真真切切。在今天的香港，他们这一套已经不灵了，他们这样的干预把戏已经行不通了！

Just as the new electoral system is taking root and democracy is improving in Hong Kong, the EU scurried to criticize, attack and smear the process and result of the election. This fully exposes their true face of using democracy and freedom as a cover to meddle in China’s internal affairs and undermine Hong Kong’s prosperity and stability. They applaud fake democracy featuring pan-politicization and rampant black-clad violence, but feel agitated by true democracy that suits Hong Kong’s realities and implements the principle of patriots administering Hong Kong. The Chinese people, including our Hong Kong compatriots, have all seen through such double standards on democracy. In today’s Hong Kong, the old playbook and the meddling tricks no longer work.

澎湃新闻记者据报道，近日，亚裔美国人科学与工程学会、美国物理学会举行视频研讨会，邀请受美司法部“中国行动计划”诬告的华裔学者讲述其受迫害经历。中方对此有何评论？

The Paper According to reports, the Asian American Academy of Science and Engineering and the American Physical Society held a webinar not long ago, and invited researchers of Chinese descent who had been falsely accused under the US Department of Justice’s “China Initiative” to share their stories of persecution. Does China have any comment?

根据相关学者的讲述和媒体报道，“中国行动计划”犯下一系列严重错误：一是草率办案、失职渎职。比如，有的检察官近一年没有同关键证人面谈，但在离职前夕为了召开新闻发布会就仓促逮捕相关学者、加快案件进程。二是扭曲事实、隐瞒真相。比如，美国检方将担任国际评审专家等正常学术活动视为犯罪，将未回复的邮件和断章取义的会议纪要作为证据，还持续隐瞒能够证明相关学者无罪的证据。三是执法犯法、滥用职权。比如，美方调查人员利用虚假信息，限制相关学者出境、监视其家属、胁迫其充当美政府间谍，甚至进行“钓鱼执法”。这些做法给有关学者的精神、名誉和事业都造成严重损害，但美国政府有关部门和个人从未就此对当事人道歉或赔偿，也未追究相关责任人的责任。

According to relevant researchers’ stories and media reports, the “China Initiative” has made a series of grave mistakes. First, hasty proceedings and dereliction. For instance, an attorney had not held face-to-face interview with critical witnesses for nearly a year, but hastily ordered the arrest of the researcher concerned and expedited the case just to hold a press conference before leaving office. Second, distorting facts and concealing the truth. For example, the US prosecutors criminalized normal academic activities such as serving as international reviewers, used unreplied emails and meeting minutes taken out of context as evidence, and withheld evidence proving the researcher’s innocence for a long period of time. Third, offenses in law enforcement and abuse of power. For example, US investigators used disinformation, restricted relevant researchers’ travel abroad, ran surveillance on their families, coerced them into spying for the US government, and even conducted sting operations. All these have caused severe damage to the mental well-being, reputation and career of the researchers concerned. However, the relevant US government departments and individuals have neither offered any apology or compensation to the victims nor held anyone accountable.
