两岸关系紧张动荡的根源，是台湾当局一再企图“倚美谋独”，而美方一些人有意搞“以台制华”，对此难辞其咎。我们愿以最大的诚意、尽最大的努力争取两岸和平统一的前景，但针对“台独”分裂活动和外部势力干涉，中方当然要作出坚决回应，维护自身主权安全和领土完整，任何人都不应对此抱有幻想。这里边的先后顺序和因果关系是非常清楚的，美方不应混淆是非、颠倒黑白。我们敦促美方充分认识台湾问题的高度敏感性，恪守一个中国原则和中美三个联合公报的规定，慎重、妥善处理涉台问题，停止售台武器，停止同台湾发展任何形式的官方往来和军事联系，不向“台独”分裂势力发出任何错误信号，以免严重损害中美关系和台海和平稳定。我还要强调的是，中国实现完全统一是不可阻挡的历史潮流，不会因任何人、任何势力、任何国家而改变。

The root cause of the current tension in cross-Strait relations lies in the DPP authorities’ repeated attempt to solicit US support for “Taiwan independence”. This also has to do with some people in the US, who seek to use Taiwan to contain China. We are ready to make every effort with the utmost sincerity to strive for the prospect of peaceful reunification. But it is absolutely necessary for China to resolutely respond to “Taiwan independence” separatist activities and external interference, and safeguard its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity. No one should entertain any illusion about this. The sequence and causal relations here are crystal clear, and the US should not distort facts. We urge the US side to fully recognize the highly-sensitive nature of the Taiwan question, and strictly abide by the one-China principle and the three China-US Joint Communiqués. It should handle Taiwan-related issues prudently and properly, stop selling arms to Taiwan and stop all official and military ties with Taiwan, refrain from sending any wrong signal to the “Taiwan independence” separatist forces, and avoid seriously undermining China-US relations and peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. I need to stress that China’s reunification is an unstoppable historical trend that will not be changed by anyone, any force or any country.

We condemn the violent acts that vandalize private and public property and support the government of Solomon Islands in stopping violence and chaos, restoring order and rebuilding the city.
