Wang Wenbin The High-level Session on the 20th Anniversary of China's Accession to the WTO was held in Shanghai on November 5. Vice President Wang Qishan attended the event and delivered a speech. And the forum was also attended by Vice Premier Hu Chunhua, Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee Li Qiang, WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, UNCTAD Secretary-General Rebeca Grynspan, President of the New Development Bank Marcos Troyjo and diplomatic envoys in China.
论坛期间，中外嘉宾纷纷将中国加入世贸组织称为“里程碑”式的事件，表示入世是中国顺应经济全球化发展潮流作出的正确选择，不仅激活了自身发展的澎湃春潮，也激活了世界经济的一池春水。20年来，中国坚持深化改革、把握机遇，国内生产总值增长了8倍，占世界比重从2001年的4%增加到2020年的17.4%，现已成为全球第二大经济体、第一大货物贸易国，利用外资稳居发展中国家首位。20年来，中国坚持全面开放、主动担责，始终以自身发展促进互利共赢，对世界经济增长的平均贡献率连续多年接近30%，成为全球经济持续发展的积极贡献者和多边贸易体制的坚定维护者。
Guests at the forum called China's accession to the WTO a milestone event and a right choice China has made in line with the trend of economic globalization. It has generated a new wave of domestic development while injecting fresh impetus into the world economy. The past 20 years have witnessed a China deepening reform and seizing opportunities. Its GDP increased 8 times, and its share in the world increased from 4% in 2001 to 17.4% in 2020,and it has become the world's second largest economy and top trading nation. Also, China has led developing countries in utilized foreign investment. The past 20 years have witnessed a China pursuing all-round opening up and stepping up to its responsibilities, and promoting mutual benefits and win-win results. China has contributed nearly 30 percent in global growth on average over the past two decades and become a positive contributor to the sustained development of global economy and staunch supporter of multilateral trading system.

As the world economy is deeply integrated, the interests of all countries are more closely intertwined. Taking the 20th anniversary of its accession to the WTO as a new starting point, China will continue to open up at a higher level, create a market environment where domestic and foreign companies are treated as equals and compete on a level playing field, and share China's opportunities with the rest of the world. China will continue to uphold multilateral trading system and work to move WTO reform in the right direction with a constructive attitude. 中方认为，全球基础设施领域合作空间广阔，各类相关倡议不存在相互抗衡或彼此取代的问题。世界需要的是搭桥而不是拆桥，是互联互通而不是相互脱钩，是互利共赢而不是封闭排他。
We believe that there is wide room for global infrastructure cooperation and various initiatives don't have to counter or replace each other. Countries should work to build rather than tear down bridges, promote connectivity rather than decoupling, seek mutual benefits and win-win results rather than isolation and exclusiveness.
希望美方拿出实实在在的行动，推动世界各国共同发展振兴。
We hope the US will take concrete actions to earnestly boost common development and revitalization of all.

汪文斌今年9月，世界知识产权组织发布的《2021年全球创新指数报告》显示，中国在创新领域的全球排名升至第12位，成为唯一一个进入前30名的中等收入经济体，超过日本、加拿大等发达经济体。2020年，中国的研发经费投入总量达24426亿元人民币，占GDP的比重达到2.4%，总量居世界第二；中国提交的国际专利申请高达68000多件，连续两年成为国际专利申请量最多的国家。这样的成绩，是中国人民用智慧和汗水奋斗出来的，是中国政府大力推进知识产权战略和创新驱动发展战略培育出来的。
Wang Wenbin According to the 2021 edition of the Global Innovation Index (GII) published in September, China moved up the ranks to the 12th place in the GII and stands as the only middle-income economy in the list of top 30. This ranking is above some developed economies like Japan and Canada. In 2020, China's R&D expenditure ranked the second in the world at 2,442.6 billion yuan, which accounts for 2.4% of its GDP. China filed more than 68,000 international patent applications, making it the country with the largest number of international patent applications for the second consecutive year. These achievements are the result of theingenuity and hard work of the Chinese people and the Chinese government's vigorous efforts to advance the IPR strategy and innovation-driven development strategy.
