A China highly commends the decision by the government of Kiribati to recognize the one-China principle, sever the so-called "diplomatic ties" with the Taiwan authorities and re-establish its diplomatic relations with China. We support Kiribati in making such an important decision as a sovereign and independent country.
世界上只有一个中国，中华人民共和国政府是代表全中国的唯一合法政府，台湾是中国领土不可分割的一部分。这不仅为联合国决议所确认，也是国际社会的普遍共识。在一个中国原则基础上，中国已经同全世界178个国家建立了正式外交关系。连日来，同处太平洋岛国地区的所罗门群岛和基里巴斯相继作出承认一个中国原则、同台湾当局“断交”、同中国建交或复交的决定，这再次充分说明，坚持一个中国原则是人心所向，大势所趋，势不可挡。
There is but one China in the world and the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing the whole of China. Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory. These facts are recognized by UN resolution and constitute the universal consensus of the international community. On the basis of the one-China principle, China has established official diplomatic relationships with 178 countries. Recently, Pacific Island countries including the Solomon Islands and Kiribati decided to recognize the one-China principle, sever "diplomatic ties" with the Taiwan authorities and establish or re-establish diplomatic relationships with China. This again fully shows that the one-China principle meets the shared aspiration of the people and is an irresistible trend of the times.
当前，中国同太平洋岛国关系保持快速发展势头。中基关系虽然有过波折，但两国人民一直相互怀有友好感情。中方欢迎基里巴斯在一个中国原则基础上早日重返中国和太平洋岛国合作的大家庭。我们愿意同基方共同努力，揭开两国关系发展新的一页。
The relations between China and Pacific Island countries maintain a momentum for rapid development. A After the Solomon Islands decided to sever the so-called "diplomatic ties" with the Taiwan authorities, certain people in Taiwan also tried to mislead the public with similar rhetoric.
我想重申，岛内个别人士的言论再次充分暴露了他们以己之心度人之腹的心态。习惯用金钱去“买”外交的人可能理解不了，原则是买不来的，信任也是买不来的。
I'd like to reiterate that such remarks by certain individuals in Taiwan again fully reveal how they've presumed others' behavior by their own pattern. Indeed, those used to "dollar diplomacy" may not understand that principles cannot be bought with money, neither can trust.

However, rising uncertainty in trade disputes and bilateral tensions are negatively impacting the commercial opportunities China presents for American companies. What's your comment?
