As the rotating president of the UN Security Council for May, China initiated the high-level meeting on the theme of “Upholding the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter and Strengthening the UN-centered International System.” Representatives from over 100 countries, including foreign ministers and senior representatives from over 20 countries have participated in the meeting to renew the founding mission of the UN. After lively and deep-going discussions, important common understandings have been reached.

This year, we celebrate the 55th anniversary of the restoration of the new China’s lawful seat in the UN. Over the past 55 years, as the permanent member of the UN Security Council, China has been actively participating in and advancing the cause of the UN. At the new historical starting point, China will continue doing more things for greater good, championing multilateralism and pursuing greater solidarity to build a more just and equitable global governance system and move towards the goal of building a community with a shared future for humanity.
