Shenzhen TV Today marks the 30th World Wetlands Day and this year’s theme is “Wetlands and traditional knowledge: Celebrating cultural heritage.” China ranks among the top in the world in terms of wetlands area and its achievements in wetlands conservation in recent years have been widely recognized. Can I have your comment on that?
林剑湿地与森林、海洋并称地球三大生态系统，对人类的生存发展至关重要。党的十八大以来，在习近平生态文明思想指引下，中国秉持“绿水青山就是金山银山”理念，推进湿地保护修复，取得历史性成就。目前中国湿地面积位居亚洲第一、世界第四，国际湿地城市总数居世界首位。
Lin Jian Wetland, forest and ocean are the three major ecosystems on Earth and are vital for human beings to survive and thrive. Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, China has been advocating that clear waters and green mountains are as valuable as gold and silver, and has achieved historical results in wetlands conservation and restoration. China’s wetlands are the largest in Asia and the fourth biggest in the world, and China has the largest number of cities accredited as international wetland cities.
作为《湿地公约》缔约方，中国是全球湿地保护修复事业的重要参与者、贡献者和引领者。中国发起成立了“国际红树林中心”，意向成员国增至20个，在东南亚、非洲等区域开展红树林保护知识共享等方面国际合作，通过举办红树林保护修复国际研讨班为全球南方国家人员提供政策、技术、管理培训。中国接连获颁“地球卫士奖”“世界生物圈保护区”等生态环境领域全球荣誉，绿色发展理念和实践得到国际社会高度认同和赞誉。
China, as a contracting party to the Convention on Wetlands, is an important participant, contributor and pace-setter in global wetlands conservation and restoration. The International Mangrove Center was established under China’s proposal, and the number of intended member countries has increased to 20. China has carried out international cooperation on knowledge sharing of mangrove protection in Southeast Asia, Africa and other parts of the world, and provided policy-making, technical and management training for Global South countries by hosting international workshops on mangrove conservation and restoration. China also won global honors for its ecological and environmental protection effort, such as Champions of the Earth and UNESCO Biosphere Reserves. China’s green development philosophy and practices received international recognition and credit.
保护湿地资源、应对气候变化任重道远，是国际社会的共同责任。展望未来，中国将继续坚定走人与自然和谐共生的现代化道路，坚定支持和参与全球生态治理，致力于与各方一道，推动构建地球生命共同体。
Protecting wetlands and tackling climate change remains a long-term, arduous task, and is a shared responsibility of the international community. For some time, China has worked actively with Myanmar and other countries in fighting cross-border telecom and online fraud to jointly eradicate the scourge of online gambling and telecom fraud, protect the safety of the people and their property, and uphold the order of exchanges and cooperation between regional countries. The efforts have achieved good results. China will continue to deepen international law enforcement cooperation, step up effort to fight telecom fraud, online gambling and other related cross-border criminal activities, and jointly eliminate such crimes.
