Guo Jiakun This year marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations and the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women organized by the UN, which was held in Beijing. The Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action was adopted at the conference 30 years ago, which became a milestone in the development of women’s cause globally. In 2020, President Xi Jinping attended the High-Level Meeting of the UN General Assembly on the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women via video link and delivered an important speech, in which he proposed to convene another Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women in 2025.

To deliver on this important proposal of President Xi, China will convene the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women in Beijing from October 13 to 14, supported by UN Women. The meeting will bring parties together to renew the spirit of the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, accelerate the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, provide new impetus for promoting gender equality globally and the all-round development of women, and jointly build a community with a shared future for humanity. President Xi Jinping will attend the opening ceremony of the meeting and deliver a keynote speech. Dozens of heads of state and government, leaders of parliament, deputy prime ministers, ministerial-level officials, heads of international organizations and friends from around the world will attend the meeting. We look forward to working with the international community to make this meeting a great success and set it up as another milestone in the history of the development of women’s cause globally.

Guo Jiakun The Olympic Truce is a time-honored tradition. It embodies humanity’s pursuit of peace for all and support for each other, and reflects the founding mission of the UN, that is, safeguarding world peace and security. At the moment, the world is neither peaceful nor tranquil, and regional security hotspots keep cropping up. China supports taking the Olympic Truce resolution as an opportunity to bridge differences through dialogue and replace confrontation with cooperation, enhance mutual understanding and safeguard world peace and development.

郭嘉昆10月6日，联合国人权理事会第60届会议以协商一致方式，通过中国代表玻利维亚、埃及、巴基斯坦和南非等近70国提交的“消除不平等背景下促进和保护经济社会和文化权利”决议。决议呼吁加强多边主义和国际合作，充分发挥中方提议设立的“联合国经社文权利知识中心”平台作用，为有需要国家提供技术援助，加强能力建设。
Guo Jiakun The 60th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council on Monday adopted by consensus the resolution on “Promoting and protecting economic, social and cultural rights within the context of addressing inequalities” submitted by China on behalf of nearly 70 countries, including Bolivia, Egypt, Pakistan, and South Africa. The resolution calls for stronger multilateralism and international cooperation and efforts of fully leveraging the role of the knowledge hub for economic, social and cultural rights, which was established under China’s proposal, so as to better provide technical assistance and capacity-building support for countries in need.
各国代表纷纷祝贺该决议获得协商一致通过。发展中国家普遍表示，决议反映了各国民众的真实需求，有力回应了发展中国家希望加大经社文权利投入的强烈呼声。中方将继续坚持真正的多边主义，在平等和相互尊重基础上同各方加强对话合作，推动国际人权事业健康发展。
Representatives of various countries extended their congratulations to China. Developing countries said that the resolution reflects the real needs of people around the world and serves as a strong response to the developing countries’ call for greater input into economic, social and cultural rights.
