Mao Ning China firmly opposes the US’s overstretching of the national security concept and abuse of export control measures to wantonly hobble Chinese enterprises. The global industrial and supply chains come into shape as a result of both the law of the market and the choices of businesses. Arbitrarily placing curbs for political purposes destabilizes the supply and industrial chains, hurts others and backfires on oneself. It will only further weaken the already fragile world economy.

Mao Ning We attach great importance to and have assisted in the disaster relief efforts in countries in Central and South America. At the request of relevant countries, we have promptly supported local flood and disaster response with space technology enabled by remote sensing satellites. We will continue to stay in communication with countries in need and support their efforts in disaster monitoring and post disaster assessment.

This is not the first time that China has assisted fellow developing countries in their disaster prevention and relief efforts with scientific and technological supports. Since China joined the International Charter “Space and Major Disaster” in 2007, it has played an active part in global efforts in disaster monitoring and relief. China has constantly provided full support to the United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER) Beijing Office since 2010. China’s Fengyun satellite meteorological data service system has covered 124 countries and regions and provided space technology support and other emergency response service to more than 40 countries for nearly 70 times, including the Philippines and Mozambique. Enabled by high-resolution observation and hyperspectral imaging, China’s Gaofen satellite system effectively responded to over 100 major disasters in 36 countries and regions. It has provided a large number of images of the disaster-stricken areas in the wake of the floods in Sri Lanka, the earthquake in Ecuador, the typhoon and ensuing floods in Laos, the droughts in Afghanistan and the volcanic eruption in Tonga, which have greatly supported the disaster relief work. China’s Beidou navigation satellites, equipped with payloads that are up to the standards of international search and rescue organizations, provide global users with distress alarm and positioning services. They have effectively increased the rate of success in the rescue work. At the ongoing 16th Meeting of the International Committee on Global Navigation Satellite Systems, parties highly commended the useful, open and compatible Beidou navigation system.
