Q On February 6, Mexico, Uruguay and some other countries decided to establish the Montevideo Mechanism to facilitate the resolution of the Venezuela issue. On February 7, the International Contact Group on Venezuela held its inaugural conference in Uruguay. The meeting issued a declaration stating that the group was established with the aim of building consensus within the international community to have free, transparent and credible elections in Venezuela and solve the crisis in peaceful, political and democratic means independently chosen by the people of Venezuela. Does China have any comment on this?

A China believes that Venezuela's affairs should be resolved by the Venezuelan people under the framework of its Constitution and laws and through peaceful dialogue and political means. This is the only way towards enduring peace in the country. China supports the efforts by the international community to this end and hopes that all sides will continue to play a constructive role in the peaceful resolution of the Venezuela issue.
