Q According to reports, the US Congress National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 has been signed into law by President Donald Trump, which includes several negative China-related provisions, such as directing a whole-of-government strategy on China and submitting the assessment and plan on strengthening Taiwan’s force readiness. What is your comment?
答中方已多次就此表明立场并向美方提出严正交涉，我们对美方不顾中方坚决反对执意通过并签署含有涉华消极内容的“2019财年国防授权法案”表示强烈不满。我们敦促美方摒弃冷战思维和零和博弈理念，正确客观看待中国和中美关系，恪守一个中国原则和中美三个联合公报规定，不得实施有关涉华消极条款，以免给中美关系和两国重要领域合作造成损害。
A The Chinese side has repeatedly made clear its position and lodged stern representations with the US side. We are strongly dissatisfied with the US’ bent on passing and signing the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 which includes negative China-related content in disregard of China’s firm opposition. We urge the US to discard the Cold War mentality and zero-sum game mindset, view China and China-US relations in an objective way, abide by the one-China principle and the three China-US joint communiques and refrain from implementing the relevant negative China-related provisions, lest it should undermine the China-US relations and bilateral cooperation in key areas.
